What does an intern do?

Each intern has a different assignment, which varies according to the department and supervisor. Work may include laboratory experiments, conducting, conducting research, developing administrative study projects, fieldwork, and other opportunities.

Intern Responsibilities:

While representing your school and the Central California Consortium, you are expected to follow these guidelines:

  • · Maintain a good work ethic.

  • · Arrive to work on time every day.

  • · Dress appropriately for your work environment.

  • · Exhibit an enthusiastic attitude for your assignment and your co-workers.

  • · Maintain a professional image..

  • · Attend all mandatory meetings.

  • · Complete all required paper work (i.e. time sheets, employment paper work, evaluations, etc.) in a timely fashion.

  • · Follow the program guidelines as set forth in this handbook.

Intern Presentations:

Near the end of your internship all interns will be presenting their experiences at the Central California Consortium Intern Gala. The purpose is to exchange information, learn the value of experience, provide a learning opportunity, and demonstrate leadership skills.

You will be asked to provide a snapshot of yourself and a brief biography of your future goals, to include in the Central California Consortium Summer Directory.

Selection/Placement:

Information for each applicant is entered into the Central California Consortium database. Each department determines the number of interns needed and submits a requests with position descriptions to the Central California Consortium. Special efforts are made to place applicants from fields that are most relevant to the needs of the departments
