Beef Stew
This
is my Great-Grandmother's recipe. It is from America, but
she was from Belgium.
This
dish is special because it had been handed down from generation
to generation.
Ingredients:
2
to 3 lbs. stew meat (cut into cubes)
1 can beef consommé
1 can golden mushroon soup
1 package dry onion soup mix
½ cup catsup
½ cup burgundy or other dry red wine
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
4 to 5 potatoes, cubed
4 to 5 carrots, cubed
celery, chopped coarsely
Preparation:
Brown
the beef in a skillet with onions and garlic and celery.
Beef should not be done, just seared.
Place
beef in a large covered roaster or use a crock pot along
with all the remaining ingredients and bake in a 325 oven
for 3 hours or in a crock pot on low for 6 hours or until
carrots and potatoes are done.
I
like the veggies in large chunks. You may also add a bag
of your favorite frozen veggies.
