Buñuelos in Sweet Sauce

This is my grandmother's recipe. It is from Mexico.

This dessert dish is a traditional flat bread that is eaten all over southern Mexico during the festive seasons. This dish has been in our family through many generations. The best way to enjoy this dish is in a sweet sauce.

Ingredients:

Bread
2 cups wheat/all purpose flour
2 eggs
2 teaspoons butter
1 teaspoon honey
½ cup milk

Sauce
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups water
1 stick cinnamon

Preparation:

Make the dough by mixing flour, eggs, butter, honey, and milk. Separate dough into small 1-inch balls. Flatten well with a rolling pin and set apart for ½ hour to dry. Fry in a pan with 2 cups of oil until crunchy.

Prepare sauce by adding the brown sugar and stick of cinnamon to 2 cups of water. When sauce starts to simmer, break the buñuelos into pieces and throw into the sauce. Let it simmer for 3 more minutes and serve.
