Home Sweet Home

1.23.03

After taking a 10-day Wilderness First Responder course followed by a three week winter vacation back at home in the Midwest, I found that in my absence, surprisingly, that no one had continued on with my job. Being away from my desk for a month wasn't as horrible as expected, although important events that need to be planned were much closer than before.
Some of the highlights coming up for this spring are:

  • February 16-20: WildLink's 5th expedition
  • March 7-9: a family weekend for the members of the Central California Consortium, one of WildLink's partners.
  • April 26: climbing lessons with Royal Robbins at the Stonehenge gym in Modesto

And yet to be scheduled are the WildLink family weekend and a special writing workshop for the students that submitted a writing sample for the Yosemite Literature Conference.

Make sure to frequently check out the activity zone and news zone for updates and information about these outreach programs.

Upon return to Yosemite, I also realized how much I missed it. Although I was only gone for a few weeks, back to a place (Wisconsin) I had lived all of my life, when I got back to the Yosemite Valley, I knew that this place just felt right. I know of no other way to put it than that. This place has definitely found a place in my heart, and I'm currently looking for a way to extend the time I will be here.
