This
week was my second week with Yosemite Institute, and it
went well. This week I got to work with Echo, she was another
great instructor. This time, we got to work with eight graders
from Sacramento. I can not believe the difference you see
from working with six graders and then working with eight
graders; it is fascinating how much their mind change with
in two years.
I was really surprise
how smart these kids were, they were well informed about
the Sierras Nevada’s and also on Yosemite Valley;
I have to give credit to the teacher who teach those kids,
it is hard to find school [specially in California] that
care on teaching their students about the environment. I
hope that many schools [not jut California] happen to do
the same things –teaching their kids about environment.
The kids were amazing
in following the instructions for the water testing from
the waters streams here in the Valley. The data that these
kids got will be use for the program called GLOBE, a program
sponsored by NASA. After two hours, we found out that the
water from the streams are safe. The rest of the week we
hiked within the Yosemite Valley, it wasn’t that different
from what I had last week with Mr. Boots; the only difference
was that I had different instructor and different kids.
I can not wait for next
week, apparently we get (and by we I mean: Jocelyn, Houston
and I) to go to LA for a Boy and Girls Club meeting for
the June WildLink expedition, I am so exited. If I am not
wrong I think we get to go on May 5th, that the famous Cinco
de Mayo, and since we are going to LA, we might see some
parades that my Raza might do. Well this is all I can say
for now, I just have to wait and see what up ahead.
