This week Umar worked on his resume
for applying for natural resource jobs.
He talked with Barb Miranda about his week.

What did you do this week?
It was an office week. I created
a new resume for government jobs.
What was challenging about this week?
Sitting down in front of the computer
all week was hard. It was long hours.
What did you learn that was new?
I got to learn new stuff regarding
computers and programs.
What else?
I never dreamed I'd get an opportunity
to apply for work in Hawaii. Actually I always thought I
was going to always work in Detroit or Michigan area so
this a big difference.
What did you picture you'd be doing for a career before
you became the WildLink Intern?
Actually I didn't know what I would
be doing. In Detroit people weren't doing anything good
with their lives. Hanging out, wasting time, dealing drugs.
Most people in Detroit with no education end up in minimum
wage jobs and get fired in a couple of months.
Coming here its like a door has been
opened and there are so many job opportunities I would never
have even imagined if I hadn't come out here.
If you got offered a job in a Park or Forest in Hawaii
would you take it?
YES!
