Yosemite Winter Literary Conference
February 24-28, 2002

Dear Friends,

To begin to describe to you the absolute splendor of this place could not take words alone. Nor pictures or paintings. Even if I could bottle the air like perfume, all senses would come up short of understanding. To think I have been chosen to write about my experience, when I myself can not fully comprehend why I'm here. My words and thoughts will never do justice to Yosemite and the adventures that have taken place.

I have hob-knobbed it with poets and novelists, photographers and painters, scientists and rangers. There has been a beautiful mix of culture and nature that has renewed my spirit, and has left me feeling on top of the world. Invincible! I'm leaving this place with the feeling that I am capable of doing just about anything. I'll put that to good use trying to catch up on all the homework I've missed these past four days.

I'm going to wrap this up for now to tell all who read this that anyone is capable of writing. All you need do is put your perception on paper. It does not have to be eloquent or poetic, just the truth you believe it to be. Find three things in the moment that stand out to you and write it down, and you have reason for a story. Good luck in your adventures.

Alicia

PS--A great big thank you to all the people that made this weekend for me possible. Mr. Medefind, Mrs. Aguilar, Barb and Jamie, and all the wonderful people of the conference. I know I can do it because of you.
