This
week WildLink students were asked to imagine that all of the
country’s wilderness areas were in jeopardy of being developed;
Congress is locked in a tie and the person who will cast the
deciding vote is undecided. Each student has an exclusive audience
with this person in order to sway his/her vote in the direction
they believe is right. What would they say?
If
I was able to save the forest when it was in danger I would
save it to the best of my ability. The forest is a place where
people could come relax and enjoy themselves, and see what else
is out there in the world besides houses, cars, electronics,
and more. I wouldn’t be able to understand why someone
would want to destroy the wildlife when it hasn’t done
any harm, besides staying alive and together for so many years.
People have to understand that the forest just isn’t a
place to look at and say “oh my god how pretty”
but it’s a home for many animals whether we see them all
or not. They have to learn to put themselves in the forest’s
position because they wouldn’t like it if someone were
to just walk up and burn or destroy their home with their family
in it. So from this I guess you realize I’d protect the
forest.
