This week WildLink students were asked to imagine that all of the country’s wilderness areas were in jeopardy of being developed; Congress is locked in a tie and the person who will cast the deciding vote is undecided. Each student has an exclusive audience with this person in order to sway his/her vote in the direction they believe is right. What would they say?

I feel like everyone should vote for the protection of wilderness. The reason why is because wilderness is a place that is live. The animals here have learned to survive on their own and they should be able to keep that. In what way would that bother you? If it’s because you want to build something, why no just choose another place that hasn’t been developed but not the wilderness. Look at it this way; you’re building factories and all that, but you are also destroying more because this is kind of like a place that was created already, but by nature. These animals and other living things depend on this place. There is no reason why you should take their homes away.
