Wilderness Places that are untouched as such, uncivilized, and the way they are meant to be. We think of wilderness as only being in the mountains, but it is anywhere the land has room to breath and exist as it needs to exist for the sake of all it supports, to allow the land to grow and remind us of what is at stake.
Solo Hike The dry creek bed, a dry winter, yet still life blooms. It's amazing that in a year with so little water, the trees and plants and birds and insects at least appear to be thriving. I was so glad to at last have silence on the trail to be able to truly listen and to not look at my feet all the time.
Most interesting things -the plant near the trail that looked like it had a fractal design -the cave and marble in the middle of the Sierras - the smell of wild ginger -the disappearance of a stream in 10 days - all of the growth along the trail; the difference in hiking less popular areas
