Many Wilderness scholars, historians, and managers are concerned that our increasingly multi-cultural society might not value wilderness in the future since most of the people that visit and work in wild places are European-American. Please respond to this concern from your own perspective. .

I DON'T FEEL THAT this statement is true simply for two reasons: one being that we can't predict the future and two being that there are many reasons why people can't come to the parks and that doesn't mean they don't care. I don't think that the widespread multi-cultural people we are becoming has anything to do with the loss of interest.

The Wilderness That Surrounds Us

  • There is so much beauty
    • present before us
  • But not seen by the
    • open eye

  • One imagines priceless
    • beauty
  • But does not take time to see
    • reality's beauty

  • If you took one step into
    • The wilderness
  • You would see what
    • really surrounds us.
