How is Sequoia
National Park different from home?
The sequoia are very
different from home because of the air quality. Up here
the scenery is very Gorgeous! And even somewhat clear. There
are definitely more things to see here. Up here I feel as
if I can breath easier. I also feel more free and I also
feel as though I'm going to get more exercise up here.
Imagine what it
would be like to be like to be one of the first people to live
in the park.
I think I were a
new settler here, I would probably not have survived. Unless I
adapted very quickly to the environment and someone taught me
how to do things by using my resources, I might have made it
.

Yesterday when
we were hiking up to Clover Creek, it was a very challenging
experience. But at the same time very rewarding. While we were
hiking up hill, I thought I wasn't going to make it. I tried
going at a very slow pace and even moving the straps of the
backpack around. Nothing really seemed to help. I felt as
though my legs and my back were just going to give up on me.
As we reached higher elevation the air was getting thinner and
that was making me feel worse. And to make matter worse, it
was snowing a lot. But thanks to John, our WildLink
supervisors, I made it. He helped carry my bag for about half
a mile or so.
When we got to Clover Creek, it looked so beautiful.
All the snow, trees, and the creek was so pretty. I looked to
me like a setting right out of a Disney movie. We spent the
night there and man I was COLD!! I liked camping out there, it
was very cool. But the only thing I didn't like was that we
had to go to the restroom out in the cold, cold,
snow!!
On our way back to lodgepole, the hike was SO EASY!!
Pretty much because it was ll downhill. Unlike going uphill, I
wasn't tired at all. I'm actually proud of myself for keeping
up with the others.
When we were driving back to lodgepole, it felt so
great to sit on something cushy. We stopped to see the General
Sherman Tree. Man that tree was so huge, I've never seen
anything like it before.
Finally we made it back here to Beetle Rock and were
just sitting around the fire, lounging it. And it feel so
GOOD!
