VISIT THE EXPEDITIONS:

YEAR ONE
2000-2001

YEAR TWO
2001-2002

WildLink Expeditions give students the opportunity to experience wilderness firsthand. Since August 2000, an average of 6 WildLink Expeditions, each consisting of 12 students, have discovered the beauty and wisdom of the Sierra Nevada--every year! Students are chosen from a total of 13 high schools, 1 middle school, and the Detroit Metropolitan Community Center. Each expedition includes a 3-4 day backpacking trip into the Sierra Nevada wilderness.

Students will explore their place in the wilderness; how we impact our environment; the growing field of watershed management; environmental science through the GLOBE Program; the cultural history of Yosemite National Park and its surrounding areas; geographical history; natural history; and possibilities for all of our futures. Students will learn what they can do as individuals, strictly through their own ingenuity and physical achievements. They will meet other students from different social and cultural backgrounds and will learn to work together to confront the social, philosophical and physical challenges of wilderness.
